Prayer to Christ for the night
Christ, Lord of the Night,
that you dispel the darkness:
while the bodies are resting,
be our sentinel.
After so much fatigue,
after so much hardness,
welcome us in your arms
and give us a serene night.
If our eyes fall asleep,
may the soul always be awake;
in peace close our eyelids
so that the sorrows may cease.
And that at the dawn of dawn,
again with new forces,
let us give thanks to you, O Christ,
for the life that begins. Love.
